How to refer
One fax and four details. No portal, no account, and nothing for your staff to log into.

Fax the referral
Send it to 210-293-9381. Your own letterhead is fine. Include the patient's name and date of birth, a phone number that reaches them, your working diagnosis, and what imaging exists and where it was done.

Point the patient to the online appointment request
Tell them to visit adapaspine.com, choose a preferred time, and submit a request. The office responds within two business days to confirm availability.

That is the whole process
The office confirms the appointment with the patient and calls you if anything on the referral needs clarifying. Nothing else is required from your staff.
Emergencies and urgent problems
Symptoms suggestive of cauda equina syndrome, rapidly progressive weakness, or new myelopathic signs require urgent emergency assessment. Patients with these symptoms should be directed to an emergency department rather than referred through a routine clinic pathway, as this allows for more rapid evaluation and management.

Why refer
Dr. Adapa is fellowship-trained in both orthopedic and neurosurgical spine technique, and treats the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine: degenerative disease, deformity, trauma, infection, and tumors. Non-operative care is the starting point, so a referral is not a decision to operate.
Conditions accepted
All conditions, including complex and revision cases and patients who have had surgery elsewhere. If a problem falls outside his scope, he will help the patient find the right specialist rather than sending them back to you undirected.
